The Aussies gave it their best shot, but it was the Kiwi team, made up of show jumpers, Samantha Morrison and Clarke Johnstone, and dressage riders, Julie Brougham and John Thompson who were the eventual victors in last night’s Trans-Tasman clash.
With the teams sitting dead equal following the Harrison Lane Jumping Grand Prix, thanks to the efforts of Samantha, Clarke and Australian jumping team riders, Gabrielle Kuna and Kate Hinschen, it was all down to the dressage riders to decide the winner in the Freestyle Grand Prix to Music.
The Australian dressage team riders put in a great effort, with Rozzie Ryan riding the young mare, Adonie to score 66.46% and place 7th and Brett Parbery guided his catch ride, Raukura Satori MH to a very respectable 69.33% to place 4th.
However, with Julie Brougham and Vom Feinsten pulling out an incredible 72.13% scoring test to win the class, and John Thompson riding JHT Antonello to third place on 70.29%, it was a convincing win for the Kiwis!
